1) Why did you choose CASA as a place to mentor for FRC?
I chose CASA as a place to mentor for FRC for several reasons. Primarily, I wanted to learn the FRC process because my son is a current participant of FLL (First Lego League) and is highly interested in robots, Legos, and building. I hope to one day support him in the future with FRC when he’s in high school. In addition, as a woman and a Latina, I wanted to assist minority students to help support their learning with FRC and serve as a cultural bridge between the mentors and the students.
2) Did you have somebody in your educational world that helped you decide your career?
My eldest sister was of great inspiration throughout my life . She has constantly motivated me to pursue higher education with her living example and has always pushed me to better myself.
3) Tell us about yourself. Title of your job, location and how long, hobbies and etc.
I have been working as an elementary school teacher for about 3 years. I work for Mapleton School District in Thornton, Colorado. I enjoy watching movies and going to museums with my son and reading.
