The Casa de la Esperanza (House of Hope) family, farm worker housing site is owned and operated by the Boulder County Housing Authority (BCHA). The mission of the BCHA is to foster the availability of quality, affordable housing and related services for the residents of Boulder County, using broad community resources. It will accomplish this mission through community collaboration, effective services and programs, efficient resource management and expansion of funding sources. The Boulder Community Housing Corporation is the non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization that serves as the umbrella agency for the Casa de la Esperanza Resident Program. The BCHA is the fiscal agent for the Resident Program. Casa de la Esperanza is made up of seven buildings, six of which are the apartment housing. Thirty-two, three and four bedroom apartments compose Casa de la Esperanza and house an average of 85 children and 70 adults. The seventh building is the community center and the heart of the activity at Casa de la Esperanza. The community center is made up of a large community room, management office, restrooms, and laundry facilities and has two wings: a Head Start classroom and a larger academic center for the Resident Program. The purpose of the program is to improve self-esteem and school performance by providing families with a positive, caring environment and on-site educational and recreational activities. All services offered through Case de la Esperanza are asset-based and aim to connect program participants with opportunities that will empower and educate them. The Program offers a variety of academic classes and social opportunities in the community center. Many partner agencies provide programs for the children and adults on site. Casa de la Esperanza serves 32 agricultural worker families in south Longmont. The services based at Casa de la Esperanza community building touch the lives of the residents at the site as well as the extended community.
